About eConsult

eConsult is an online service that allows you to quickly and easily access GP services. Answer a few simple questions and eConsult will get you the help you need. eConsult is only available during surgery hours.

To book an appointment:

When you get in touch, our reception team will ask what you need help with.  This will help us assess your needs and identify the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

A small number of our face-to-face, on-the-day Advanced Nurse Practitioner appointments (for one new physical health problem only), are made available to book online via the NHS App.

7-Day GP service (extended hours appointments)

Local practices are working together via our GP Federation, Southport & Formby Health Ltd., to offer patients better access to evening & weekend appointments through a service called 7 Day GP.

The 7 day GP service operates:

  • Monday to Friday from 5pm to 9pm
  • Saturdays from 9am to 5pm, and Sundays from 9am to 1pm
  • At The Family Surgery, 107 Liverpool Rd, Birkdale, PR8 4DB.

You can book appointments and get more information by phoning our reception team.  The service helps us deal with patient demand at busy times, & helps working-age patients access GP appointments on evenings & at weekends.

Important: If you need to cancel your appointment

Please tell us if you need to cancel your appointment and give us as much notice as possible. This means we can offer your appointment to another patient.

How to cancel your appointment

You can cancel any appointment by using the NHS App, even if it was not booked online. You can also call the surgery to tell us or by following the instructions on your appointment reminder text message.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • If there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to see, we will do our best to organise that but it won't always be possible
  • If you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face or video call
  • If you need an interpreter
  • If you have any other access or communication needs.
